MIND BODY RENEWAL SERIES
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for Adults: We discuss the causes, symptoms and treatment options for ADHD.
Stress and Trauma Recovery: Overview of the symptoms, impacts and treatment approaches to trauma and abuse recovery.
Managing Depression: We talk about the causes, symptoms and treatment of depression. We will also discuss ways to deal with depression and depressive thinking, the role of medications and ways to prevent relapse.
Healthy Choices: This session will discuss how being aware of the choices you make affects your life. You will learn how to define both your wants and needs, and how these two things are different. We will look at how your choices affect your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We will discuss how learning to develop consistency between what you think and what you do will make a significant change in your life, and help you feel more in control of your life.
Self-Esteem: We cover the benefits of working on self-esteem, the characteristics of high self-esteem and the various factors that influence self-esteem.
Dealing with Loss: We look at how loss can impact people’s lives. (This may be the loss of a job, a family member, a friend or a pet). We will discuss ways to cope with these losses and their impact.
Healthy Relationships: We look at the different kinds of love and some of the common traits of both healthy and unhealthy relationships. We discuss myths and facts about relationship abuse, and learn how to build healthy communication with others.
Understanding Anger: We will look at responses to anger, how it impacts the physical, mental and emotional well-being of yourself and others. We will also briefly examine what anger can help you understand about yourself and how this understanding can show you what is important in your life.
Deep Relaxation: The exercise taught in this session includes sound, focusing and creative visualization to give participants a direct experience of physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Easy to learn and easy to use in your daily life.
These free educational sessions will be open to the general public. Each session is self-
contained (1½- 2 hours) and will provide handout materials.
