The South Shore Health, Mental Health Program, offers free services across Lunenburg and Queens County, Nova Scotia. Our services are for individuals and families who wish to improve their mental health. Maintaining our mental health is vital to our everyday life and our services are designed to restore peace of mind and satisfaction in life.

MENTAL HEALTH EDUCATION SERVICES:
Our services are designed to help you gain a better awareness of how to manage your personal or family concerns. The Mental Health Program offers opportunities to participate in group experiences which will provide helpful ideas about staying mentally healthy.
 
GROUPS FOR SPECIFIC CONCERNS
Clients must be assessed by the Mental Health program to decide if you or your family would benefit from these groups:

Child and Adolescent:
Anxiety groups: (“Cool Kids” for elementary kids and “Chilled” for teens)
and GPS: Great Parenting Strategies (Navagating your way through parenting a challenging child)

Adult:
Stress Management, Cognitive Skills, Anxiety, Self Esteem and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy

MIND BODY RENEWAL SERIES
These free sessions will be open to the general public as well as serving as a skills session for clients who have been referred for therapy in the Mental Health Service.  Each session is self-contained (1½- 2 hours) and will provide handout materials. You may come to one session or all; no registration is necessary.

Topics include: Stress Management, Emotional Freedom Technique, Managing Depression, Dealing with Loss, Understanding Anxiety, Problem-Solving, Self-Esteem, Healthy Relationships and An Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation
